The sores (look like chicken pox) usually radiate out along nerve paths in the chest, back, neck or face, leaving the rest of the body unaffected. Shingles disease is a very painful condition caused by the same virus (herpes zoster) as chicken pox. The virus lies dormant until "triggered" by physical/emotional trauma, cancer or other disease.
