We've been doing this advice thing for about 6 years, first using email, now with the forums. I still remember the first time one of the people I had spent hours trying to help...just vanished. I learned a very important lesson about the Internet. Whatever reason they stop communicating, people just don't feel it's important to let us know they won't be back. I'm sure most of them have gotten their issues resolved and moved on to new issues. There are a probably a few who experienced some sort of tragedy. And, of course, there are those who were insulted or hurt by something said. This is the only group where some tell me thy won't be back. Though it's no longer important for them, they are still important to us. I pray for them, worry about them and wish often that they would just spend a minute or two updating us on their lives. Onethousandtears is a recent example of one I worry about. Her recent posts suggested there were some very dangerous situations in her home...and then...noting. I don't know if we'll ever hear from her or her friend again. All of us who are trying to help others at Way2Hope need to accept that sometimes people just move on. We just have to have faith that the time we spend is helping some of them.
